Seven members of the Board of the Maine Chapter IAT/SIA spent a couple of days in July scouting possible trail locations between Wassaquoik Stream and the Summit of Deasey Mountain.

On the way to T3 R7 we hiked to the new Robert Neuman Grand Pitch Campsite in T5 R8 and completed a short list of tasks necessary to finish all work on this campsite.

The group scouted a possible trail location, of about 5 miles in length, from the North bank of Wassataquoik Stream to the fire lookout on the south summit of Deasey Mountain. They found some very large white pine and sugar maple trees along the possible trail route. It may also be possible to incorporate  some of the old Wassaquoik Tote Road and the old trail to the Deasey fire lookout into this section of the IAT/SIA.

We were all pretty tired by Saturday morning, but we enjoyed the spectacular views of Katahdin as we left our campsite and headed home.
