Press release
IAT - Quebec Opening delayed
The International Appalachian Trail – Québec (IAT – Qc) cannot guarantee good conditions of the trail as a whole until the end of July 2008. This information will be revised at the end of June or at the beginning of July, when we will have been able to go check all sectors.
The heavy rain, wet snow and strong winds of last autumn caused damage which requires the intervention of forest workers. Tens of kilometers of path were the subject of overturned and broken trees, of erosion causing the fall of several small structures (footbridges) and of floods which carried away bridges and damaged wood footpaths.
Consequently, no reservation is possible for the shelters or campsites and the same is true for the passports offered to long-distance hikers.
For a pre-reservation, it is possible to contact us at the IAT-Québec office or to call the reservation service of the SEPAQ at 1-800-665-6527 option #3 to be put on a waiting list.
