"Captain America" (Mark Bailey) and "Mother Nature's Son" (John Calhoun) are on their way north! Walter Anderson and Dick Anderson met them in Yarmouth to greet them and get a picture (shown above) Traveling from Alabama, they are headed north for Crow Head, Newfoundland and Labrador to start their hike. These are real long-distance hikers with experience on all the famous long-distance trails. They will be attempting to be the first SOUTHBOUNDERS to complete the IAT/SIA. There is a good chance that they will be able to attend our International meeting in Millinocket--and the End-of-the-Trail Festival.
Pictured above is Ray Hicks, our first Thru-Hiker of 2008. Ray started his hike on the 17th on June at Katahdin and is headed for Cap Gaspe. Before leaving for Katahdin, Ray stopped by Freeport for a visit where Walter Anderson and Dick Anderson met him for a photo op.
