IATNL Trail Development Update
Trail development on the IATNL recently came to an end for 2008.  We made substantial progress on three new sections of trail:  Lewis Hills, Blow Me Down Mountains, and Parsons Pond.

Recently IATNL Vice Chair Bob Diamond and Treasurer Arne Helgeland accompanied the Lewis Hills work crew across Fox Island River and onto the Lewis Hills as far as Cabox, the highest point on the island of Newfoundland, to install IATNL trail blazes.  These small markers are used to identify the trail route and reassure hikers there's still hope of being found alive.

Below are photos from Bob's and Arne's working trek.

Next summer we are hoping to complete the trail from Fox island River across the hills to Serpentine Valley.  From there it will join the Blow Me Down Trail to the top of the Blow Me Down Mountains, down to the Hummock behind Frenchman's Cove, then on to Benoit's Cove.

Be sure to send in your letter to Santa for a new pair of hiking boots!

For Newfoundland I'd recommend a pair of ATBs (All Terrain Boots):  knee high rubber boots with good insoles.
