The International Appalachian Trail – Québec (IAT – QC) and Cartier Wind Energy, Inc. invite you to the grand opening of the Windmills Trail (Sentier des Éoliennes), located in the Anse-à-Valleau wind farm on Friday September the 11th at 11 o’clock, and to the first hike of the whole trail on Saturday September the 12th at 9 o’clock. This 6.3-kilometre loop featuring the windmills of Anse-à-Valleau connects with the IAT – QC. This trail is for the general public and allows the hiker to safely
take a closer look at the windmills in action.
On Friday the 11th, there will be a press conference that will be followed by the symbolic opening of the trail. Participation prizes will be raffled out and all participants are invited to hike up to Jalbert Fall, which is 1.5 kilometres away from the meeting place. On Saturday, a hike of the whole 6.3 kilometre loop will take place (departure at 9 o’clock). Members of the IAT – QC will accompany visitors. Everyone is invited to attend these events.
The inauguration as well as the departure for the hike on Saturday will take place in the parking lot on the eastern side of the trail, at the intersection of the IAT and the road leading to the wind farm of Cartier Wind Energy, Inc. (map enclosed). In case it is raining, the press conference will be held at the Anse-à-Valleau wind farm workshop.
