Saturday night February 24th,members of MATC gathered in the Freeport First Baptist Church for the annual Winter Social.
The event was coordinated by MATC member, and IAT/SIA President, Dick Anderson. The program included a seminar/workshop on the use of GIS technology presented by Chip Noble of DeLorme mapping company. That session was attended by about 30 people who enjoyed an excellent presentation on the latest in GIS technology.
The usual pot-luck supper involved some great food and a lot of good socializing among MATC members. Several IAT/SIA MAINE Chapter Board members were also present including Walter Anderson, Will Richard, Torrey Sylvester and Eric Horschak. We had a small display of IAT/SIA printed material at the social and answered questions about the IAT/SIA.
The highlight of the evening was a spectacular slide presentation by Ed Webster, titled MY STORM YEARS ON EVEREST. Ed is a photographer ,writer and mountineer. His program kept everyone spellbound for an hour. After the program Ed took the time to sell, and autograph, copies of his new book; SNOW IN THE KINGDOM. It was a presentation that everyone present will remember forever. To learn more about Ed , or to purchase a copy of his book, you can visit his web site at www.mtnimagery.com While you are there be sure to check out some of
