Report on My Presentation to The International Ecotourism Society’s Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference on The International Appalachian Trail/Sentier International des Appalaches
My trip to Vancouver, BC for The International Ecotourism Society’s (TIES) Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference was very productive. My presentation was extremely well attended (see attached photos); 25+ attendees in the audience. The audience included educators, students, tour operators, resource managers, and resort owners, mainly from the United States and Canada. There were conference attendees from all parts of the world; i.e.; Nepal, Greece, various African countries, etc. After my presentation about twelve members of the audience sought me out to obtain additional information on the IAT/SIA. Half of these individuals expressed interest in hiking the trail in the near future.
In addition to my presentation I was able to make important contacts with TIES members, especially board members. They were very interested in the work the IAT/SIA board members and volunteers were doing to make the trail a reality. Finally, my abstract and presentation was placed on line fro conference attendees and TIES members. I have received several positive emails on my presentation.
