JOHN STOUGH / PLUGGER JOHN began his through hike from Katahdin to Cap Gaspé, Quebec in Houlton, ME, a few days before our annual May 2009 meeting at Shin Pond. He was our guest at that meeting.
He continued from Shin Pond to Roaring Brook in Baxter Park at the base of Katahdin but was not able to go up Katahdin because of snow conditions.
From there he returned to Houlton, ME and continued north on the IAT, staying one night in the Monticello lean-to, and continuing on up to the Border crossing into Canada at Ft. Fairfield.
On 29 May 2009 he was in Mount Carleton Provincial Park where the highest point in New Brunswick is located.
The 2nd of June he took a side canoe trip from Kedgwick, NB down the Restigouche River to Matapedia, and then continued his hike on up into Quebec to St René de Matane, just a few miles south of the St. Lawrence River.
Plugger John is presently in the Matane Provincial Reserve (Chic-Choc Mountains) heading easterly towards Gaspé.
John has a SPOT GSP device that allows him to send his location and Google Earth satellite image, with a pointer, to his location each night and morning.
