On May 20th Dick Anderson and Will Richard, representing the Maine Chapter SIA/IAT and Denyse Zyveniuk, representing the New Brunswick Chapter SIA/IAT traveled to the city of Gaspe to participate in the Annual General Meeting of the Quebec Chapter. It was the 10th Anniversary meeting.

After a formal business meeting, which included the many issues involved in organizing and maintaining the 370 miles of the trail in Quebec, as well as the election of officers, Dick Anderson presented a slide show featuring photographs taken at the many historic events that have occurred along the trail in Quebec.  Dick presented Mr. Desjardins with a congratulatory letter from Maine Governor John Baldacci and Margaret Kraenzel read the letter aloud in French (see attached letter).

Anderson also reported that about twelve thru-hikers have registered to hike the trail this year. Denyse delivered a congratulatory message from New Brunswick President Bob Melville who was unable to attend. The meeting was then adjourned to a wonderful, riverfront pub for beers and dinner.

It was great for us to celebrate the spectacular accomplishments of the Quebec Chapter with many old friends who have done a great job developing the Quebec trail section.

The new Coordinator of the Chapter is Eric Chouinard (a friend for many years). Eric, and the Board are working hard to build the support necessary to maintain the trail in it’s present excellent condition. Newly elected President Pierre Desjardins presided at the meeting and joined in the post-meeting celebration.
