The annual meeting of the IAT/SIA was held at Shin Pond Village on the first Friday of May. Walter Anderson, the program chair, did his usual outstanding job in gathering a great group of experts to deliver presentations. All the presentations gave those present a better understanding of the flora, fauna, and geology of the area east of Baxter Park.
The weather was nice. With the record winter snowfall, a lot of snow was still on the ground and this prevented our Saturday hike of Sugarloaf Mountain (for the second year in a row).
We have scheduled next year’s meeting for May 14-16 in the hope of actually being able to take everyone to the top of Sugarloaf.
Treasurer, Bob LeMieux, reported that, as always, we finished the year “in-the-black”. Nominating Chair, Torrey Sylvester, submitted the name of David Jones as a new Board member and that nomination was approved.
